I recently purchased a few products from a website called Shop Miss A; if you read my last blog, all the items I received were listed (if you haven’t- no worries, it will be linked here). Today I put these items to the test and decided if they were worth buying. Although they were only a dollar each item- YES I KNOW, I AM STILL BLOWN AWAY- $1 for everything. I wanted to give you guys an honest review, so here is a mini tutorial and review on the items I purchased!
Before testing the goodies on my face, I always start with a clean slate. First I spritz my face with the legendary Mario Badescu Rosewater, then I go in with (yes, as always) the Josie Maran Moonstone Drops. Once that is settled on my skin, I apply my NYX Pore Filler Primer.
Yay, priming is now complete.
Time to fill in ‘da brows. Filling in my eyebrows is probably the most time-consuming part of my whole makeup application process. Using my fav Anastasia BH Brow Wiz, I start by outlining my brows, then going in with light strokes to fill them in. To make them sharp and crisp, go in with a concealer to clean them up, I always use the Tarte Shapetape Concealer. (It’s a fan fav!)
Next, I used my Tartlette Palette to create a smokey crease. On my lids, I used my new AOA Wonder Baked Highlighter in Snap. I got a bit daring and also used the Intense Colour Waterproof Eyeliner in Olive Green. Finally, I popped on the eyelashes with the eyelash glue and called it a look.
FIRST THOUGHTS: The highlighter was more of a subtle glow, perfect for those who do not like blinding highlights. I used it with a setting spray to enhance the pigment a bit. The liquid liner on the other hand- I did not like. I am not a huge fan of liner that does not dry matte. This liquid liner dried with a shine/metallic finish. Also, the bottle broke and eyeliner leaked everywhere- it was a mess, thankfully not hard to clean up with some soap and water. Next, the eyelashes. The eyelash curler was a steal for $1, along with the eyelash glue. The eyelashes were a bit “spider-like” in the packaging and did not look much like the original picture on the website. Surprisingly though, the lashes did not look too bad on. I can say so far I’m impressed with what I purchased.
After my eyes were completed, I went back to my face makeup. I applied my fav foundation, the Hourglass Foundation Stick. I did a little concealing under my eyes, on the bridge of my nose and on my cupid’s bow. I set those areas with some Coty Airspun Powder and the remainder of my face with Kat Von D powder. Next, I bronzed with some Wet n Wild bronzer (Bikini Contest), then proceeded to add the Kleancolor Airy Minerals Loose Powder in Camel.
FIRST THOUGHTS: One word: PIGMENTED. So pigmented, it was almost too hard to work with. I suggest going in little by little and with a light hand.
After I was all bronzed up, I applied some more Airspun powder and baked until the remainder of my face makeup was complete.
While baking, we skip to highlight. First I tested out the Amuse Highlighter Stick in Peachy, then on top of it, I used the highlighter snap again. I applied both the AOA Lipsticks (Blossom and Chai), and now just need to get rid of excess powder and set the face.
FIRST THOUGHTS: The highlighter stick was very subtle, but it paired nicely with the powder highlight. It gave a natural/dewy highlight, which I love. It makes the skin appear young and healthy. The lipsticks on the other hand- very chalky and dry feeling. They were very uncomfortable on the lips, perhaps if you exfoliate your lips prior to wearing this it would help the issue.
Overall, I am not disappointed in 5 out of 9 products I purchased. Personally, that seems like a pretty good deal considering everything on the site is $1. I hope you all enjoyed this mini tutorial and review of products purchased on Shop Miss A. I really had fun making this post for you all.
